RED WILLOW FARM - Purebred and Percentage Boer Goats

About Us
My name is Lori Marchuk and "I LOVE GOATS", kind of sounds like something out of "Goats Anonymous" but I have loved goats since I was a little girl growing up on a farm in Saskatchewan.  At that time you had dogs and cats for pets, not goats.  My husband Tim and I moved to a farm 8 years ago and you guessed it the first thing I got was a couple of Fainting Goats.  Our friends and neighbours were fascinated at how these goats would just fall over when they were startled.
Our herd grew from there, with me going to the local auction and buying every cute goat I could get my hands on, and as we all know, there is no such thing as an ugly goat.  I became fascinated at how sociable and funny my "pets" were.  They had the run of the place and just wandered around the yard.  The herd Queen was an old Boer Doe, and she decided when to eat, when to rest, and when to attack Mom's flowers!!
Tim wasn't as taken with the goats as I was until he realized the potential to make money.  We decided to become serious about goat farming and bought a herd, or trip as they are called, of 95 commercial bred does.  Well did we ever jump in with both feet.  We both work full time and didn't realize the time it would take to look after this many goats, as the pets had basically taken care of themselves.  The offspring were meant to be sold for meat, but after the first load was about to go and I had to rescue a couple of bottlefeds off the truck, I knew this was the wrong path for me.
I attended Agribition and watched the Goat Show and knew that was the direction I wanted to take.  We were lucky enough to acquire some Purebred and Percentage Does and 2 gorgeous Bucks from Darlyne and Jerry Hoberg of North Eden Farms, with bloodlines including Art Deal, Sampson, and Santana. We are expecting great things from our Does this spring.  We currently own "Central Alberta Paula", who was Canadian Grand Champion Doe scoring EX in Boer Type Evaluation , "North Eden 131S Savanna", who was Agribition Champion Doe 2 years in a row, scoring VG89. We also have "North Eden 49U Pretty One", who was Champion Percentage Doe at Agribition, scoring VG85.  These beautiful ladies along with the rest of the herd are very sociable and get lots of one on one time with me as my favorite thing to do on a warm sunny day is to go sit amongst them and watch them interact with each other and me as well.  We currently have a limited number of yearling Does and Bucks for sale, and will have a limited number of our 2011 crop available as well.  Please contact me if you are interested.
